Recently, foreign media reported that Apple is testing TSMC’s 3nm chip, and products equipped with this chip are expected to be released in 2022.
At present, the most likely device equipped with this 3nm chip will be the new iPad Pro, which will be launched in 2022, and the new iPhone in 2022 will be equipped with 4nm process chips. Compared with the current A14 5nm process technology, there will be 10 ～15% performance improvement, 25%～30% reduction in power consumption, may be able to save the battery life of the current iPad Pro Diabetes.
However, the desktop M1 chip currently on the iPad Pro already has very strong performance, and the software on the iPad has no longer able to slow down the performance of the M1. Unless the iPad will use more mac-side software in the future, or directly carry macOS, the chip will be updated. It can only achieve the purpose of extending battery life, which is not very meaningful.
