ASUS ZenFone 7 series is released, can you accept this flip lens?

When it comes to ASUS mobile phones, you may only think of the prodigal eye-ROG Phone. But in other markets, ASUS will also launch some conventional models, and the ZenFone series is the masterpiece.

In fact, let’s talk about the routine, this series is very unusual.

In order to achieve a true full screen, mobile phone manufacturers have tried many solutions, such as the Meizu 16 series that adhere to the traditional design; there are also those with a lifting design like the Redmi K30 Pro, and even dual-screen phones like the vivo NEX.

But these designs are not admired by Asus, and the ZenFone 7 series released on the afternoon of August 26 continues the flip lens again.

Don’t gossip, upload the picture:

Flip lens

The ZenFone 7 series has two models, Pro version and Standard version, both of which use the flip-up lens design shown above.

The advantages of this design are obvious. It can not only cancel the front lens to achieve a true full screen, but also improve the Selfie effect with the help of a rear lens with higher imaging capabilities.

ZenFone 7 Pro uses a three-camera design, which means that its flip module is larger than the previous generation.

Specifically, the three lenses are a 64-megapixel IMX 686 main camera, a 12-megapixel IMX363 ultra-wide-angle lens, and an 8-megapixel 3x optical zoom lens. The main camera and telephoto support OIS.

In terms of functions, ZenFone 7 Pro supports the main camera 8K video, ultra-wide-angle 4K video, super video anti-shake, three-microphone radio/noise reduction, smooth zoom and so on.

More importantly, these functions can all be used for selfies, a proper vlog artifact.

The rear-position and front-position are not the most powerful part of the flip structure.

Thanks to an angle sensor and a new generation of motors, ZenFone 7 Pro supports custom flip angles, allowing the lens to stop at any position. You can also set shortcut keys for three commonly used, one-key direct access.

For example, if you want to take a picture of the sky, you don’t have to raise your phone and turn your head up and hand it over to the flip lens. For another example, you don’t need to lie down completely when taking pictures of the ground.

In addition, ZenFone 7 Pro also supports dynamic tracking, automatically flipping the lens to track the subject; one-click automatic panorama, standing still can create a clear and stable panorama.

However, such a flip structure not only takes up additional internal space, but also makes the phone weigh as high as 230g. Considering that the ZenFone 7 Pro has a built-in 5000mAh battery, it seems to be acceptable.

After watching the flip lens, let’s take a look at the other selling points of ZenFone 7 Pro.

ZenFone 7 Pro uses a 6.67-inch full screen without notch on the front, and the chin control is also very good.

At the same time, this screen also supports 90Hz refresh rate, DC dimming, HDR 10+, and Delta-E <1, the display quality should be good.

However, it has a big slot.

This screen is made of AMOLED, but it is not equipped with screen fingerprint recognition, but uses side fingerprints.

Performance and other configurations

As a flagship mobile phone, ZenFone 7 Pro certainly has flagship performance, and none of Snapdragon 865 Plus, LPDDR 5, and UFS 3.1 are left behind.

It also supports up to 2TB storage expansion, and it is the kind that can coexist with dual SIM cards.

ZenFone 7 Pro has a built-in 5000mAh battery, which is officially claimed to be capable of 2 days of battery life; fast charging is compatible with QC4 and PD, and the official standard 30W PD USB-C port charger.

In addition, ZenFone 7 Pro also has features such as stereo loudspeaker, NFC, dual-mode 5G, and cancels the 3.5mm headphone jack.

As for the standard version of ZenFone 7, the appearance and body specifications are the same as the Pro version, but the optical image stabilization is cancelled and the processor is reduced to Snapdragon 865.

Currently, the ZenFone 7 series has been pre-sold in the Chinese Taiwan market, the prices are as follows:

  • ZenFone 7 6+128GB about 5160 yuan (USD $737) (RMB, the same below)
  • ZenFone 7 8+128GB about 5630 yuan (USD $804)
  • ZenFone 7 Pro 8+256GB about 6568 yuan (USD $938)

During the first sale period, a gift certificate of about 469~704 yuan (USD $67) (effectively equivalent to cash) is provided, so the price of this phone is about 4700 yuan (USD $671) .

On the whole, the ZenFone 7 series has a more comprehensive configuration, with performance, high screen refresh, large battery, dual speakers, NFC and other functions related to detailed experience, and it also has the characteristics of true full screen + flip lens.

The starting price of 4700 yuan (USD $671) is not only not expensive in the Taiwan market, it is also the cheapest 5G flagship in the local market.

However, for the mainland market where 5G started earlier and the competition is more intense, there are obviously better choices at the same price. But if you take a fancy to flip lens, ZenFone 7 series can still try it.
