China Mobile test: Kirin 990 leads download speed under 5G situation

Recently, China Mobile’s China Mobile Terminal Laboratory released the “China Mobile 2020 Smart Hardware Quality Report (Phase 1)”. In this report, four current mainstream 5G SOCs were selected for testing, including Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+X55; Huawei Kirin 990, MediaTek Dimensity 1000+, Samsung Exynos980.

China Mobile introduced that this test is accompanied by the large-scale commercial use of China Mobile’s 5G. The powerful computing power of 5G chips, the ultra-high download and upload rate, and excellent power consumption performance will help the rapid development of 5G. This 5G chip performance evaluation is the first comprehensive evaluation after large-scale commercial use. It mainly examines the data upload and download performance, voice call performance and power consumption performance of the 5G chip under the SA network.

In this test, China Mobile selected four dimensions, 18 scenarios, and 27 indicators for a comprehensive investigation. In actual tests, Huawei’s Kirin 990 has the leading download rate, the main chip SA voice success rate has performed well, and MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ has excellent power consumption during data transmission.

China Mobile officially concluded: The test results show that, overall, after less than a year of 5G scale development, industrial efforts and SA toughening, the overall maturity of 5G chips has improved significantly compared with 2019, and it can serve users in a complex live network environment Provide high-speed data transmission experience, stable voice calls and good power consumption performance, which has met the current 5G commercial needs.
