A few days ago, the China Automobile Dealers Association released a report on sales of imported cars by SINOMACH. Data show that the sales volume of imported cars reached 102,000 in December last year, a big increase of 24.1% year-on-year; the cumulative import volume in 2019 reached 1.086 million units, a year-on-year decline of 2.3%.
On the whole, SUV and sedan models accounted for a large amount of all imports, 54.6% and 41.6%, respectively. Among them, the sedan market experienced the most severe decline, falling by more than the average level by 4.5% year-on-year, while the SUV and MPV models declined slightly by 0.7% and 0.5%, respectively.
From the perspective of vehicle brands, in 2019, the domestic first group of brands’ competitive terminal sales are very fierce. The top three are Lexus, BMW and Mercedes-Benz in order. You know, Mercedes-Benz still ranks first in the sales volume of imported cars in 2018, far ahead of Lexus and BMW, but by the first half of 2019, Mercedes-Benz was overtaken by Lexus and BMW.
In terms of parallel imported cars, the cumulative sales volume in 2019 was 163,000, a year-on-year increase of 2.4. Among them, Toyota accounted for 44.4%, followed by Nissan and Mercedes-Benz.
It is worth mentioning that, before Tesla achieved domestic production in 2019, its sales increased by an astonishing amount, accumulating a doubling year-on-year growth of 226.6%.
