Former Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Yizhong: Huawei should be supported in establishing a chip manufacturing line

During this period of time, Huawei’s sanctions by the United States have received widespread attention, and even Li Yizhong, the former minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, expressed his views on this issue. Li Yizhong said at an event recently: "Faced with the brutal encirclement and suppression by the US, Huawei is interested in establishing a chip manufacturing line. We should support it and give it praise."

Li Yizhong talked about the issue of Chinese chips. He said that he must calmly deal with the blocking and cutting off of my country's integrated circuit industry by external forces such as the United States. There must be sufficient anticipation and various measures to prevent, fill and replace.

Earlier news said that Huawei plans to build a chip factory in Shanghai that does not use American technology, starting with 45nm chips, and the goal is to produce 20nm chips by 2022. In addition, Huawei’s rotating chairman Guo Ping said that he will continue to maintain investment in its semiconductor company HiSilicon, and will help front-end partners improve and build their own capabilities. I believe there will be a stronger HiSilicon in a few years.

It is worth mentioning that at present, my country has proposed to strengthen the national strategic scientific and technological strength, aiming at the frontier fields such as artificial intelligence and integrated circuits, and implementing a batch of forward-looking and strategic national major scientific and technological projects.
