Geely plans to build a plant in Chongqing to produce Polestar, with an estimated annual production capacity of 30,000 vehicles

On October 27, according to media reports, Geely Holding Group plans to build a factory in Chongqing for the production of electric vehicles under the Polestar brand, with an estimated annual production capacity of 30,000.

According to reports, the plant will be operated by a newly registered wholly-owned subsidiary. In addition, two people familiar with the matter said that the plant will produce high-end electric vehicles under the Geely Holding Group’s Polestar brand.

In response, Geely Holding Group officially responded that it would not comment, and Polestar Auto insiders also said that they had not heard of this.

Polestar is a high-performance electric vehicle brand. It is jointly owned by Volvo Car Group and Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. Currently, Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 are on sale.

Among them, the Polestar 1 hybrid vehicle is produced at the Chengdu plant, and the Polestar 2 pure electric vehicle is produced at the Taizhou plant.
