HTC's latest patent exposure: folding screen design, the screen can be turned outward

Speaking of folding screen mobile phones, most people should think of Samsung, Huawei and Motorola. Recently, a latest patent was exposed, and HTC seems to be preparing to launch a folding screen smartphone.

According to reports from foreign media LetsGoDigital, HTC applied for a patent for a “foldable display device” in the United States on New Year’s Day 2019. The patent was issued in August this year and officially disclosed in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) database.

According to the patent, the folding screen mobile phone HTC is preparing to develop is similar to the Motorola Razr flip phone, but its screen folds outward, and its hinge can make the HTC folding screen device half open or fully open.

In addition, there are two support modules on both sides of the HTC patented folding screen phone, including different gears. Such a design needs to ensure that the flexible display panel will not be excessively stretched during the folding process, and this can also reduce the possibility of wrinkles on the screen. Having said that, this is just a patent. Whether it will be produced by HTC and commercialized is still unknown.
