Huawei P40 series abandoned GMS instead of HMS Yu Chengdong: still hope to cooperate with Google

At last week ’s P40 series mobile phone conference, Huawei announced that the P40 series phones will be equipped with its own HMS service and AppGallery application store, without using Google ’s GMS and Play Store. This is also the first time Huawei has fully used its own services on flagship phones.

However, Yu Chengdong, CEO of the consumer business terminal, said in an interview a few days ago that Huawei still hopes to cooperate with Google to carry the Play Store.

In an interview with Wired magazine in the United States, Yu Chengdong talked about his relationship with Google. He said that in the past we have brought huge revenue and profits to American companies like Google, and we have always been good partners. Therefore, we still hope to continue to cooperate with Google and hope to get permission from the US government.

Yu Chengdong mentioned that we want to use all Google services and use the Google Play Store as the main content of Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) to provide users with more choices. We want to stay on the Android platform.

However, Yu Chengdong also said that Huawei will continue to develop its own services and application stores. He introduced that the HMS and AppGallery application stores are developing very fast and getting better.

At present, there are more and more popular applications in the AppGallery application store, but there will definitely be some gaps (compared to the Play store). These problems will take time to resolve. He expects Huawei to take one to two years.
