Lenovo Chen Jin: Stop charging when covered by hand, for the health of users

After the debut of the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform, Motorola began to show off its muscles again.

This morning, Motorola released a demonstration video on air charging technology. In the video, the wireless charger can charge a mobile phone at a distance of 100cm, and it supports simultaneous charging of two devices. The transmission distance is much longer than that of ordinary wireless charging technology on the market.

After the tester blocked the charger with his hand, the air charging stopped immediately; after the handle was removed, the charging continued. It is this action that has caused many netizens to wonder: if there is an obstruction, stop, and the practicality of charging in the air may be reduced.

In response, Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo’s mobile phone business department in China, said:

In the video, the charger will stop charging when the hand is blocked. It is a safety setting specially developed for the health of users. It is the safety protection provided when the human body is detected at the transmitting end of the charger with higher power. This is the common sense of human-machine protection in engineering design. .

Coincidentally, Xiaomi also announced the air charging technology today and said that it will not reduce the charging efficiency due to foreign objects.

At present, the air charging technology is still in the research and development stage, and the mass production time is temporarily unknown. The final method of handling obstructions also needs to be confirmed after the relevant products are on the market.
