Mobile phone sales pick up in the second quarter

On July 30, canalys, a third-party research organization, released the global smartphone market report for the second quarter of 2020. According to the sub report, Huawei’s total smartphone shipment volume in the second quarter of this year reached 55.8 million units, accounting for 44% of the market share, surpassing apple and Samsung as the champion for the first time. This is also the first time in nine years that Huawei has a leader of manufacturers other than Samsung and apple Machine market.

According to canalys, Huawei’s mobile phone sales fell 5% compared with the same period last year, while Samsung’s was down 30%. However, Huawei’s shipment volume in China still increased by 8% and won the second quarter’s shipment volume with a share of 44%. Subsequently, vivo ranked second with 16.3% share, oppo ranked third with 16% share, millet and apple ranked fourth and fifth, accounting for 10.3% and 8.5% respectively.

According to Apple’s financial report, the iPhone 11 is the best-selling model in the Chinese market, while the iPhone se has helped Apple improve its financial performance. Judging from the initial data of the iPhone se, the number of iPhone se users purchased is higher than that of the previous year. And thanks to the “radical” pricing in June and the good performance of the iPhone se launched in April, Apple’s mobile phone shipment has increased by 35%, becoming the largest brand in growth.

In addition, the performance of the whole 5g market is also very impressive. Compared with the first quarter of 2020, the shipment of 5g mobile phones increased by 260% in the second quarter, and 5g users exceeded 100 million in July. Among them, Huawei’s 5g mobile phone shipment accounts for 60% of the total shipment, while nearly one third of vivo, oppo and Xiaomi are also 5g mobile phones. It can be seen that consumers still show great enthusiasm for 5g mobile phones, and this trend will continue to be maintained.
