In the evening of July 2, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange disclosed that Xiaomi Group granted 70,231,664 shares to 3,904 employees.
The outstanding young engineers of Xiaomi Group, the outstanding employees of fresh graduates and core positions of the team, and the outstanding engineers of the annual technology award have all received corresponding equity incentives. Among the above employees, there are about 700 outstanding young engineers who have been selected for Xiaomi's latest talent incentive program "Young Engineer Incentive Program", and they will receive a total of 16.042 million shares.
According to Xiaomi's official disclosure, the young engineer incentive plan is personally led by Lei Jun, the founder, chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group. A total of nearly 700 outstanding young engineers were selected into the first batch of lists. They are mainly R&D engineers, testers, product managers, designers, etc., from chip research and development, machine learning and algorithms, software and hardware development, cloud computing, system architecture, image processing, and materials. There are many front-line front-line positions in technology, operating system, video training, interactive design, etc. The youngest selected employee is only 24 years old.
In the future, Xiaomi Group will promote this incentive plan to the entire group, and it will continue to be a long-term project for talent incentives for all young engineers throughout the company. Through public selection and annual evaluation, young engineers with outstanding performance are selected.
So far, Xiaomi has continued to pay attention to and encourage technical talents:
Prior to listing, Xiaomi granted pre-IPO option incentives to thousands of core engineering and technical talents. Since its launch, Xiaomi has continued to increase its investment in R&D, recruitment and selection of technical talents, and continuous long-term incentives year by year. It has launched a million-dollar technical talent award to encourage and support technological innovation. Last year, after multiple rounds of selection by the Technical Committee of the Xiaomi Group, the Xiaomi Instant Charge Team in the mobile phone department and the MIUI privacy protection team in the software and experience department stood out from many technical teams with the ultimate innovation and leading hard-core technology, and each received a value of 100 Ten thousand dollars in stock incentives.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of its business in 2020, Xiaomi proposes three iron rules-technology-oriented, cost-effectiveness as the key, and the coolest product. Focusing on technology establishment, Xiaomi Group has launched a number of measures in key areas such as R&D investment, technical talent recruitment, and talent incentives to establish a sufficient reserve of engineers and talents to seize the commanding heights of technological innovation in the new decade.
In terms of R&D investment, Xiaomi’s overall R&D investment in 2020 is about 10 billion yuan. This year, Xiaomi will continue to invest in technology research and development, which is estimated to increase by another 30-40%.
In terms of talent recruitment, at the beginning of 2021, Xiaomi announced that it would recruit 5,000 engineers, accounting for more than 20% of Xiaomi's current total number of employees. This is also the largest expansion of engineers in Xiaomi's history.
"Without top talents, innovation is water without a source and trees without roots." Lei Jun said that with the launch of the young talent incentive program for Xiaomi engineers, Xiaomi will continue to make efforts in the future to make Xiaomi a holy land for engineers.
