In the past few days, Intel Tiger Lake-H35, Nvidia RTX 30 mobile version and AMD Ryzen 5000 mobile version have been released. Let’s talk about these products and the impact they will cause.
The tangled Tiger Lake-H35
Let’s look at this PPT first. The first line of words is the 11th generation Intel Core H series processor, and there are words like acceleration frequency up to 5GHz, games everywhere, etc. below.
However, this is not the H series in the traditional sense, but the H35.

To put it simply, Tiger Lake-H35 is Intel’s official Tiger Lake-UP3 processor that relaxes the power consumption limit and then overclocks the product.
Therefore, the H35 series inherited the design of 4 cores and 8 threads, but the frequency has been improved to a certain extent.
As a special version, the i7-11375H SE can even reach a single-core turbo frequency of 5.0GHz, which is almost the same as a desktop processor.
According to the official technical specifications, the H35 series natively supports Thunderbolt 4, PCIe 4.0, and Wi-Fi 6/6E. Built-in 96EU Iris Xe core display, and can be used with the highest LPDDR4x 4266MHz memory.
And the official said that its single-core performance is equivalent to i9-10980HK, it looks very powerful, right?
Only 4 core specifications have determined that its multi-core performance is definitely not good. The independent display can only be connected via PCIe 4.0×4, which is barely enough.
Of the above two limitations, the former will limit the performance of the H35 in core-count sensitive games, and the latter will affect the performance of high-end graphics cards.
Although 35W TDP and higher nuclear display specifications make it very suitable for high-performance thin and light notebooks. The positioning of thin and light gaming notebooks is also destined to be unlikely to have a combination of Tiger Lake-H35+RTX 3080.
However, under the packaging of the words “lightweight” and “standard pressure”, I believe that many melon players who don’t know the truth will start to consider related products. I’m not saying that they must not be bought, but if you need a truly high-performance gaming laptop, please think twice.
RTX 30 in normal play
Nvidia today released the RTX 30 series of mobile graphics cards, including RTX 3080/3070/3060, and related products will be launched on January 26.

Compared with the number of stream processors in the desktop version, the RTX 3080 mobile version is more castrated, but it offers a 16GB capacity option. The gap between RTX 3070 is relatively small, and RTX 3060 is basically different.
After all, the power of the desktop version of RTX 3080 has reached 320W, it is recommended to use a 750W power supply. For gaming laptops, such specifications are too high.
The good news is that the RTX 3070 and 3060 specifications that most players will choose are not bad, corresponding to the 90fps gaming experience at 2K and 1080P resolutions respectively.
And Nvidia said that these graphics cards will support the Resizable BAR function, allowing the CPU to make full use of the graphics memory. This feature is currently available for Intel Tiger Lake-H35, after all, the Ryzen 6000 mobile version was not released yet.

Ryzen 5000 mobile version, the specifications are good, but please be less routine
Finally, let’s talk about the Ryzen 5000 mobile version. This time AMD took out both the low pressure and standard pressure series in one breath, and it also made the RX6000 mobile version shine.
The standard pressure series Ryzen 5000H is no problem, inheriting AMD’s high-specification and high-performance style in recent years.
Not only the CPU adopts the Zen 3 architecture, the L3 cache is doubled to 16MB. It also launched the HX series for high-performance and flagship gaming laptops.
Among them, R5 and R7 are divided into H and HS versions, and the TDP and basic frequency of HS are lower. Not surprisingly, the HS should be positioned similarly to the H35, used for thin and light gaming laptops, but its performance should be much better than the latter.
As for the HX series appearing in the R9 series, 45W+ TDP is officially given, and the multiplier is not locked and supports overclocking. I personally look forward to the actual performance of these two products, although I am a little worried about heat dissipation.
The low-voltage series Ryzen 5000U is a bit pitted, and this is not just because Zen 2 and Zen 3 are mixed.
This time the CPU part of 5800U/5600U is replaced with Zen 3, so you can also experience many advantages brought by the new architecture. But in addition to performance improvements, I am more concerned about battery life.
After all, the official said that the R7 5800U can stand by for 17.5 hours of daily use and play video for 21 hours. Putting it into the actual use scene, this basically means that there is no need to charge for two days.
As for 5300U/5500U/5700U, Zen 2 is used and Hyper-Threading is enabled. I don’t think it’s really a problem to look at these three products individually, but it’s a bit messy to put them in the entire product line.
For example, R5 5600U and 5500U have 6 and 12 threads, but Zen 3 and Zen 2 respectively. And even if you know that 5600U is Zen 3, you may still be confused about what architecture 5700U is.
For this, I can only say that AMD is a bit unkind this time.

Although it is unclear whether the H35 was launched because of the real Tiger Lake-H dystocia, it is still in line with the trend of thin and light gaming laptops. This wave of Intel operations is not very attractive.
