In the previous content, I introduced the processors and graphics cards released by Intel, Nvidia and AMD for gaming. This time we will talk about ROG Magic 13, which is also the notebook product that interests me the most during this CES.
ROG Magic 13 is positioned as a high-performance, thin and light notebook. It uses AMD R7 5800HS and Nvidia GTX 1650 hardware combination, and RTX 3080 is optional.
Plus a 13.4 inch, 1920×1200 (FHD, 16:10) resolution, 120Hz refresh rate screen. It has 100% sRGB color gamut and supports touch.
This product also supports 360° flip, the body thickness is only 15.8mm and weighs only 1.35kg.
Able to achieve such luxurious parameters under such a thin and light body, ROG really has yours…
Speaking of this, does it feel wrong?
Let’s try again: R7 5800HS, GTX 1650, RTX 3080, 1.35kg.
To be honest, if your ROG can squeeze the first two things in, I will recognize it. At most, you need some “black technology” in terms of heat dissipation. But if you can get RTX 3080 into it, I will be there (9 words omitted).
Then look down, in fact, ROG Magic 13 does not have an RTX 3080 graphics card version, but provides an external graphics dock.
It contains a RTX 3080 with a TGP of 150W, which should be a mobile version.
The official said that this ROG XG graphics docking station can meet the performance requirements of large-scale 3A games and 8K video editing. It adopts the heat dissipation design of the soaking plate, and has its own light effect (the official does not say RGB related content, so there is no default).
The built-in 7 interfaces and SD 4.0 card reader can fully meet the scalability requirements for daily use and most content creation.
More importantly, it occupies a small space during actual use, and it can be better “hidden” under the display.
For this reason, ROG also specially designed an interface (④ in the figure), which is probably a combination of PCIe 3.0×8 and USB Type-C. So in addition to connecting an external graphics card, this interface can also achieve 100W PD fast charging.
I think ROG will also launch corresponding non-graphics docking station products. After all, only a few interfaces and an RGB eye are needed, and it should be able to sell at a good price.
As for the price of ROG Magic 13, the first release is 7,999 yuan (USD $1143) (16GB+512GB, without graphics card dock). The price of the graphics dock has not yet been released, but it should be around 20,000 yuan (USD $2857) for a complete set.

But in fact, the price of 7999 yuan (USD $1143) is really good for a notebook with such parameters, and ROG’s eyes do not bring too high a premium. At the same time, we may also see that this year’s notebook market should still continue to fight price wars.
After talking about the graphics card docking station and price, we then come to the ROG Magic 13 body.
After all, even if the R7 5800HS is paired with GTX 1650, it is not easy to achieve a size of 13 inches and 1.35 kg. Moreover, it also added a touch screen, which supports 360° flip.

△ ROG Super God X
According to the video content, ROG had a deeper understanding of the heat dissipation of the product when it designed Super God X, a special gaming notebook.
Simply put, the main computing part of the laptop we usually use is located under the keyboard. The air inlet is generally located under the machine, which is the so-called D side.
However, most of the time this surface will be attached to the table and other planes, which naturally affects the air intake of the whole machine. In order to allow the air inside the fuselage to flow better, notebook manufacturers often cushion the D surface, and many users put several bottle caps under the notebook using the same principle.
In order to solve this problem, ROG launched the Ice Blade series. While pulling up the screen, a 7mm air inlet is provided at the bottom of the fuselage to increase the air intake of the whole machine.
In normal times, this air intake does not appear, thereby achieving a thinner and lighter body.
The feature of 360° flip can also solve this problem. Just turn the fuselage around so that the D side is facing up, or use the “tent mode” to allow the bottom of the fuselage to fully contact the air, which can improve the heat dissipation effect of the whole machine.
ROG Magic 13 probably continues the design style of the family in recent years. The fuselage is made of aluminum-magnesium alloy material, and the gravitational wave design concept is introduced.
Although I haven’t seen the real machine yet, according to the official rendering, I think the actual look and feel of this product should be good.
As a product that weighs 1.35kg, ROG Magic 13 has hardware specifications such as R7 5800HS, and a 13.4 inch high refresh rate touch screen. Although there is no upgrade to 2K based on the possible mainstream this year, there is still no shortage of highlights.
So even if you just want to start a thin and light notebook, the budget is not very restrictive, you might as well consider ROG Magic 13.
