Xiaomi's industry's first air-to-air charging technology is the first to enter the era of true wireless charging

On January 29, 2021, Xiaomi first launched MI Air Charge technology, which continues to lead the development of wireless charging. Relying on the air-to-air charging technology, whether the mobile phone is carried in the pocket or in the hand, it can realize automatic air-to-air charging, freeing the charging from the shackles of wires and charging bases and entering the era of true wireless.

Adhering to the “technology-based” concept, Xiaomi has been exploring the application possibilities of advanced technology, especially in the charging field. Not only did it first mass-produce 120W wired second charging, but also released 80W wireless second charging, in the two fields of wired charging and wireless charging. All are in a leading position. The air-space charging technology released this time is another bold exploration of Xiaomi in the charging field, showing the infinite possibilities of future charging scenarios.

From the air charging pile to the mobile phone terminal, Xiaomi has created a complete air charging system, with 17 technical patents, and has overcome the two core technologies of space positioning and air energy transmission. The self-developed aerial charging pile has built-in 5 phase interference antennas, which can position the mobile phone in millisecond space and accurately detect the position of the mobile phone. The phase control array composed of 144 antennas transmits millimeter waves to the mobile phone through beamforming.

On the mobile phone, Xiaomi has innovatively realized the miniaturization of the antenna array, with built-in “beacon antenna” and “receiving antenna array”. The beacon antenna broadcasts position information in the space field through low power consumption. The millimeter wave charging and receiving antenna array composed of 14 antennas receives the millimeter wave signal emitted by the charging pile in the air, and converts it into electrical energy through the internal rectifier circuit of the mobile phone. Charge in the air.

At present, Xiaomi’s air-to-air charging technology has achieved 5 watts of long-distance charging within a radius of several meters, and supports simultaneous charging of multiple devices, even passing through foreign objects without reducing the charging efficiency. In the future, Xiaomi’s air-to-air charging technology can also charge smart watches, Bands and other wearable devices in air, completely getting rid of the shackles of wires, truly realizing wireless charging, and turning highly sci-fi scenarios into reality.
